Sorry for the links to rest of pics but have resized two!

Sounds very sweet, not as loud as the later amps, need to give it some stick through a 4x12 = when more time!

Very nice - what's the value of the ceramic on the vol pot?

This may be a really stupid question...is that an amp you built or one really from '65? Neal, with your work, it is hard to tell.

thanks

Roger

Yes real deal, very original, just had a couple of mf resistors and a replaced cap, fortunately I had the bits. Shame about the MV hole in the back but helped make it affordable for me, that and the missing back panel  . I had a pair of NOS KT66s too.

I have had chance to crank it up and now see why these amps were so significant. Next step is to A-B with my Metro which electronically is the same except for a 10uF on V1 cathode.

The cap on volume pot is not original but is 100pF (I know I have an original RS tubular ceramic around somewhere, no doubt 'in a safe place' for when I need it

That's a beauty Neil, so this was the one you were after. Hope you got it into the den under the 'boss radar'

Interested to hear your opinions on the A/B test.

Very nice! Interesting to see the brass strip on front with otherwise standard script logo looks.

You're building up quite a collection, Neil!

I did wonder, as a very close serial number on amp archives (highly polished etc) has a block logo, but this undoubtedly has always had a script logo. The light when I took the pics wasn't very good and I'm not why sure my camera is not quite up to snuff. I will see if I can take some better ones with cap codes etc. I need to take some good quality pics of the '65 dual OT 45/100 once I have tidied that up (need different job/less children/drop the band  ok so none of the above just need more time....)

Another possibly dumb question...but how come no red dye on the solder joints? When did Marshall start doing that?

Fantastic! This amp has vibe and appeal in spades. Glad I could do my part. He he.

Not dumb!
From my observations the early amps were inspected and marked with the same yellow laquer that you see on the nuts and bolts, some have no marks (including this one and I can't see signs of it despite nearly all the joints being original. Odd thing on this is the use of brown wire instead of black on the heaters, I have also seen green used as well so presumably a common problem running out of black wire?
The red marking seems to be '68 and on but others may have more specific dates?
