Ok. Heres the deal.

I noticed the other day while playing around the 13 fret and up on the A string that it sounds as if Im playing through a octava pedal. It is almost a warbly type sound.
It does occur on other strings also, but it really stands out on the A.

I have a 100 watt metro into a V30. No pedals, I do have a THD set to -8db.

I tried turning attenuator to -4 and 0 it seemd to help a little.
I haven't removed it from signal path completely though.

And it seemed when I turned the volume on the amp down a bit it helped also.
But it still seemed that the doubling effect was still there but not as bad.
Any suggestions?

Are you sure it's not the guitar? Your intonation may be off. Just a thought.

If the amp still makes that sound without the hotplate, I'd try different tubes and make sure the bias is okay. It's hard to tell without hearing it, though. You may want to try a different speaker cab to rule that out too.
