No Volume on Volume II

Im having a problem with my 100watter.I have no volume when I plug into Volume II input.All I get is a nice hum.

Please help if you have any suggestions, please let me know.I'm a newbie.

can't be too major, if you're getting sound from chan I.

On the first pict, v2 tube socket,the green lead and yellow lead look like they touch? that would not be good, could be just the picture? I beleive thats the grid and cathode contacts,also have you checked all your preamp tubes?

I checked V2 and nothing is touching, I checked tubes all seem fine.

I then plugged into II input and wiggled my cord around.
I got both inputs to work as long as I held cord just so.

Duh.

man its really a pain in the ass to hold that cable just right and play at the same time! LOL glad to hear you got the problem solved. bluze

Just for future reference, V2 is after the two channels are mixed so the problem had to be before that.

I had a similar problem on one of my builds once. Found out it was something very simple - I had crimped down my plate wire on one side of v1 w/ the board mounting bolt just enough to cut the insulation and ground it out. NO sound out of that side of the tube, thus only treble volume worked. replaced the wire, worked great. check things like that. I've noticed whenever I had a problem like yours, it's almost always something simple and obvious when you look for it. Once I had the plate wire come loose on v2 for example, when I was soldering in the 100k resistor, no sound. another time I put a 470k resistor instead of a 470 ohm right before the phase inverter, super quiet, but it worked. Check stuff and recheck stuff, you'll figure it out.
