New amp kit

Post by darrell » Tue Oct 02, 2007 10:19 am

Im kinda of taking a poll on this so maybe we can put more work on george.
What amp kit would you like to see george start selling?
I would love to have one of his block end amps in a kit , Of corse he would have to do some parts changing like sozo's for mustard caps and so forth. I thought he would be tired of building them by now and offer them in a kit but it aint happend yet.
Any thoughts on a new amp kit yet george?? Thanks man and keep up the great work but take a break some time and smell some fresh air..

Last I talked to him about the block ends they were not going to be available to the public as a part/kit, to keep his premier amplifier differentiated from the builds everyone puts together.
I offered my left nut for one but so far he hasn't taken me up on it. Can't offer both, I need at least one for now.

Like Flames said, that is George's premier stuff, so I can't blame him for not wanting to make it mainstream for all the builders.

Why not put it in a alumiunum chassis and change a few things to keep it from being his block end amps.He would no dought make a fortune on a block end kit..
I would even like to see 1967 alumunuim chasis kit insted of tring to piece one together from a bar bones kit.

I wonder how long it takes to machine each end? No wonder the price would be high  Altho I'm pretty sure folks would pay it :P

It is a GDS 18 watt chassis that I made the end caps for. The 18 watt chassis comes with open ends and I just felt it was too flimsy for me. I machined up the ends to fit and that fixed the problem. But it really is kind of a silly affectation, I mean the bent metal chassis with welded corners are plenty strong way better than what Marshall was selling in their day. They felt the cast ends was easier or cheaper than welding the corners and it might have been but the welders these days make it a lot easier. Don't get me wrong I think the cast ends is cool and great way to differentiate your product from the competition. There is amp maker who has special pinstripe cloth made for his 18 watt amps you bet it cost more but it looks so cool.
