I've been waiting for someone to offer up a JMP 50 watt plexi, or metal panel kit, and I thought Metro was going to do it.

Any progress or news about WHEN? I'd like to build another demo amp to use with speakers for clips. So please let me know when it's ready, OK?

I have been ready to post this very question a number of times, but kept telling myself to wait. So "thanks", Jim, for doing it for me!

I'd like a 50 watter too

I talked to George on Wednesday, and we're going to discuss it some more later today.

While I like the JTM 45 tone, I'm really into a bit more aggressive tone. A client came over to demo speakers with a 68 JMP 50 2 years ago, and I loved his tone through my speakers, even better than the G12M T1511 BW cab he came over to buy!

Then three weeks ago another client came by with his late 69 JMP 50, and I loved that, too, so that's what's sparked my interest in building this type of head. They need darker speakers than a JTM since they don't offer as much bass, but the wider mids & high end more than make up for it, IMO.

Anyway, the story is George will have to get one in to document, then source all the modern day parts equivalents, trannies, etc. so he'll need some time to get it together, I'm sure.

Maybe an Xmas present to myself is in order.

All the parts are there in the store, I made one entirely from Georges bits last year. Once I have tweaked it fully my equivalent original will appear on ebay.

I guess buying individual bits does not generate a discount for bulk of a whole kit.

all the parts are in the store now. parts list is on a sticky on the
50watt section, you just have to piece it togather. i did a metro
amp jtm 45 before the kit was avail. and it was my first amp
piece of cake.

Tell George that we love him for his devotion to authenticity, but... OCD is one thing. A market opportunity is another: Let people choose their configuration from, say 67, on up to

George has said multiple times on this forum (and in responses to my repeated email requests ) that he will make a 50W kit. He does have all the parts in the store already, but he needs to create the instructions and put the official parts list together, etc.

I am DYING to build one... I have come close on several occasions to just buying all the parts and piecing it together from various schematics and layouts on the web, and picking the brains of the fine folks on this forum... but I'm scared.

I would just do it, loads of people to help here, just get a decent digital camera, get a JTM45 kit instruction booklet and 100watt booklet, study the schematic for the 50 watt version you want, jumble them up in your head and hey presto:

Unless you just really want a kit version,you can get all the parts needed from the Metro store,like has been posted, I have built two 50w amps with Metro parts and Marstran transformers,and gig with both amps,big tone! alot of good info on the Marstran site, some great shots of 50w Marshalls. bluze

Yup.....Just like Neil says.....
Gatherup all the parts and the 45 and 100watt instructions and the layout for the 50watt by Billy Batz and your on your way......Thats how I've done mine and it was a great experience.......Almost all the Marshall circuts are the same anyway and layed out very close to each other with just a few value changes anyway.......
