Les Paul / MetroAmp Tonefest Jam 2007

Post by gutpile » Sat Sep 01, 2007 11:35 pm

To those interested, the other guitarist I play with (mauster71 on this forum) is hosting a Les Paul Forum Jam in the Metro Detroit area (Lincoln Park) on Oct. 14th... we want to also invite any MetroAmp forum members in the area as well... The jam will also feature some MetroAmps as George has confirmed he will be there with some of his prized amps 8) ... It should be a really cool laid back day with plenty of tone to go around and a chance to put faces with screen names... This is a semi-private event and so please send me a PM if you are interested with the number of people you want to bring... attached is the flyer with more info... it is at a local bar but the bar will be closed on Oct. 14th to host this event... Bring your favorite Paul & some of Rockstah's chops! If you have any questions please feel free to PM me...

Thanks,
Mike

You fucker!!! :D I thought you had the man (LP) himself lined up for this! If anybody would appreciate what George has done it would be Les Paul!

if only I had those connections!!!! George is only a few years behind Mr. Paul in name branding! The LP forum guys that haven't had alot of exposure to MetroAmps are in for a treat when they hear what they have been missing :o It should be a really cool day... They have a house drummer and bassist lined up so every couple songs or so different people just jump in & jam... I am hoping we can get quite a few people... They had it on a Sunday because alot people play on Saturday nights...

Just a reminder, the LP Forum Jam wsg Metropoulos Amplification is this coming Sunday, October 14th.

A large Downloadable version of the poster/flyer with a readable map can be found here:

https://home.comcast.net/~mauster71/LesPaul/LPFJam.jpg

Hope to see some of you there.

We're Looking for itinerary/format ideas!

The place is a bar/hall called Lil Easy on Dix Rd., just South of Outer Drive in Lincoln Park.

Right off Southfield Freeway and very close to I-75 and I-94 as well, so no matter where you're coming from in Mich, it's easy to get to.

There is a decent size hall there that is separate from the actual bar. It has a full size stage that is large enough to accomodate drums, bass and at least two guitars and a singer. Basically, we have the hall all for ourselves.

Plus the hall has a bar and they also serve decent food. The load-in/out doors are located next to the stage so nobody has to carry gear through the bar.

We are supplying the P.A. equipment and we are hoping to have at least one drummer and bass player there to fill in and add to the fun.

We are hoping that this being a Sunday does not conflict with anybody's gig schedule.

Bring your favorite Gibson and an amp if you like, however if you feel like saving your back and not lugging your stack there will be plenty of good amps there to use as well. George Metropoulos is going to be present with a backline of his own special toys so it's sure to be fun for everyone. That's not to say we don't like variety and a Tonefest would NOT be complete without some vintage Fender action so if anybody feels the need for Tweed, black or silver - be my guest to show us some good old Califorinia Tone.

We're hoping this turns into a real Tonefest and we can all meet up and see and hear some great guitars, enjoy some great music, meet some great people and make something special happen.

I just got back home from the tone fest. George and his crew were there with his great amps! I played through his JTM-45 (I also built one), but I played with his guitar too!

He had a JTM 45/100 with GEC KT-66's and that sounded awsome!
Imagine his line up with various Metropoulos Heads, Cabs and a ton of les pauls. You could walk up to 'em and plug into them, crank em up..........
It was tone heaven and a chance to hear what the various Marshall circuts sound like.

I brought my '71 Super Lead to compare to Metro-Amp 100 watt-ers. I thought mine had too much of a high end sizzle (after removing the bright cap on the input jack and the one on the turret board. Gearge pulled out his soldering iron and put in one of his "secret tweaks". (I know what he did but it's his secret to I don't think it's fair to share it here)

He is a super nice guy (I still owe you a beer) and a great musician.

The highlight for me was jammin up on the stage with George!

I'll get some pic's posted soon..........

THAT WAS A COOL AFTERNOON.

Thanks to all the guys that showed up - it was great to meet every one of you and to see such fine instruments.

A big thanks to the MetroAmp gang for bringing a small army of people, guitars and a wall of Metro Madness!

My ears are still ringing.

I wish I could have gotten around to take more pics of the fine guitars that everyone brought, but I was tied down most of the night running sound, making sure things were taken care of, and singing my ASS off.

Enjoy the pics, and if you need a larger version of any of the pics just shoot me an email and I'll send it to you!

Thanks guys.

Peace...

Now if only Gutpile would get those video clips posted!?!?!?
