Hi guys I'm not sure if this belongs here or the 12000 series thread but I'll ask anyways.
I have built around half a dozen ceriatone marshall style amps in the past so have some experience with building,
However I'm looking to build a 12000 series head using parts from valvestorm and following "Nightowls 12xxx build guide"
I just have a few questions:
1) What model transformers would I need (I am in Australia aka 240v), especially for the virtual variac function?
2) Do valvestorm offer chassis / rear panels with an IEC socket as aposed to a hard wired power cable?
3) Do any other brands (classic tone / mm / etc) offer alternative (possibly cheaper) direct bolt on transformers of the correct specs for this build / chassis?
I've probly forgot a few questions, but thats a start!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers - Peter

Re: Metro 12000 Series Build
The OT needs to be a C1998 Dagnall type (Metro, Marstran, ****** or an original) don't skimp.PeterJ_22 wrote: 1) What model transformers would I need (I am in Australia aka 240v), especially for the virtual variac function?
Most rear panels are blank so you can cut a hole. I believe Metro are doing 12 series chassis.PeterJ_22 wrote: 2) Do valvestorm offer chassis / rear panels with an IEC socket as aposed to a hard wired power cable?
Don't skimp on the OT. A PT with dual voltage is normally the Metro one to cope with virtual variac switching (400v and 490v options), although I think both Marstran and ****** do them too.PeterJ_22 wrote: 3) Do any other brands (classic tone / mm / etc) offer alternative (possibly cheaper) direct bolt on transformers of the correct specs for this build / chassis?
I would go with the cheapest inc. shipping etc from any of these 3.

Re: Metro 12000 Series Build
Thanks for the reply,
If I were to order these from the metro amp store, what are the PT / OT / Choke model numbers?
Cheers.
