I have played gigs with no load on the speaker output and survived.
4 head rig with a bunch of cabinets..melted speaker voice coil wire during a gig and instant no load.
But..I have changed a bunch of output tube sockets, really need to check for arcing, if you miss it the
first time..might not get a second chance...some eras of vintage tube sockets are prone to that.
