I couldn't really say. I have a Weber Mass as well, but it's a 25w model for a smaller amp. That one works equally as well for me too...I just can't a-b against the Load Dump with a big amp.

Agree with tonepilgrim, considering I've actually heard his setup in person (
) and it is flat awesome. All of the tone at non-eardrum-blowing volumes. 100w is completely feasible for basement playing and there are many ways to get there. I have the MASS200 and it's okay, not great. I think it squashes the brightness a bit too much for some of my tones. I've been after the AFD/Slash tone recently and the brightness of that sound just can't make it through that much attenuation.
That being said, I use the Lar/Mar PPIMV and play through a 4x12 and it is fantastic. Really, almost no loss in the dimed tone to my ears.
All of this is still relative though to what you mean by basement levels. I can't play when my kids are sleeping or anything, (cause my setup is right below their rooms right now) but the neighbors don't hate me when I do play. I'll also give a +1 to zrAC/DC. I'm planning on finishing out my basement with a sound 'dampened' room for more playing flexibility. In the end, a 100w will never equal a practice amp for low volume playing. But keep in mind, nothing equals tone like pure cranked 100+ watts. So if you never plan on playing loud, you'll never get the visceral growl that these things were made to achieve.

Tonepilgrim, wow that clip sounds great! Do you find the amp cleans up the same as when unattenuated? Does it effect the dynamic response of the amp? If not i might have to consider one of those. Because WOW that sounds REALLY GREAT!
