1959SLP Metroamp kit?

Post by maltone » Mon Sep 21, 2009 3:18 pm

Guys, is there a Metroamp kit that is available based on this Marshall? http://www.marshallamps. ... 10

Someone on you tube said that these 1959 re-issues are close to the Wizard 100 tone. Is this correct?

Ummm... Is this a trick question? Because I think MetroAmp's claim to fame was the quintessential Marshall Super Lead so-called "Plexi" 100W amplifier (ranging from '66-'69 eras). The standard '69 MetroAmp 100W kit does the original justice and more, unlike the inferior quality of the Marshall reissues.

Kind of a redundant (borderline asinine) question to ask, seeing as this forum is dedicated to MetroAmp's faithful reproduction of the quintessential Marshall amplifiers from the late '60s. I guess this is what you are looking for: http://metroamp.com/store/index.php?mai ... ucts_id=59 but I am slightly shocked that you didn't come across that before you asked your question.

I'm not too familiar with the Wizard 100, but if it's comparable to the 1959 Super Lead then the MetroAmp 100W Kit should do the trick.

Also, please keep in mind that I wrote this comment in good humor and I definitely do not wish to offend anyone. I hope that link is what you were looking for.

No.

That reissue is based on a ´72, which is not a Plexi. The 1959HW is based on a specific ´69 SL, the last year for plexi´s, owned at the time by a member here, but built with inferior components to what you´ll find in a Metro kit.

If Wizards sounds like a the one in the link, the they sound really bad.

What you´ll get with the Metro kit, http://metroamp.com/store/index.php?mai ... ucts_id=59, is better components, better trafo´s, and the option to build, mod and learn something in the process.

There you go. Well put and to the point. I failed to specify the discrepancies between a '72 Super Lead and the '69 Super Lead. My bad.
