Metro PTP kits

Post by Kapo_Polenton » Sun Oct 07, 2007 8:13 pm

Gents, I want to rewire my weber kit as i am not happy with the filter cap section and the fact that it is all jammed in there and i am now after 3 months experiencing problems with the amp.(voltage drop, posibly leaky caps or caps that can't handle voltage from transformer-hence popping fuse i imagine) I wanted to start fresh with a good turret board and use 50/50 caps instead of the mix match that the weber layout uses, can I follow the ceriatone layout for the plexi or is there a corresponding full amp layout for George's take on the 1987x 50 watt circuit? What is the standard 50 watt plexi layout floating around metro? Soo far I have seen tons of stuff on 100 watters and talk of jmp's.

Much Thanks.

with the PTP kit comes a CD ROM packed with layouts and info. There's a section for the 50 watters too. Complete with Layout, parts list, voltage table and photos (notated and non-notated).
With this CD it was a breeze to install the PTP board in my 1987x.

Does that answer your question?

Hi, I think no one has replied yet as your questions are a bit vague!

George sells a board and components kit here:

http://store.metroamp.com/product_info. ... cts_id=159

This would be a replacement for a 1987X. How/where you put your filter caps will depend on your chassis.

I am only familiar with original Marshalls and Metro stuff. If your chassis has two top cap holes then use these with dual 50 cans and you can use a dual 50 or dual 32 mounted internally like this one

a board mounted dual axial 32uF like this one:

http://marstran.com/6768%2010862.htm

or if your chassis has three holes up top then this one:

Hope that helps. I believe Nik at Ceriatone can help with different combinations too.

Definitely answers my question gents thanks a bunch. Essentially i was just wondering whether or not George's kits followed more or less the same 1987X design so i wouldn't have to worry about component swapping. From what I understand from all of you guys, there is more than enough info here for me to make this work..

thanks again.
