Volatage chart and order of testing

Post by johnnymenudo » Sun Dec 16, 2007 1:30 pm

I am on part 1 of testing - all of my heater voltages were 2.9 and -40 DC neg bias voltage. I did get 305 V at the + of the bridge rectifier until I took the amp off standby and then got 459 V DC. So far so good.

Do you keep the amp on standby when testing voltages after installing tubes? Maybe i am missing something in the directions.

Turn the standby to "On" like you're going to play when testing tube voltages.

Amp is done. Sounds very very nice. I really like the PPIMV anywhere from 6 - 9. When on full I get a bit of a squealing undertone even with the presence at 0. I noticed something else - my bass pot does very little to change the sound into my 4 X 12. In fact, I can't hear a difference when I turn it. I am into the high input jacks - I might try jumpering the inputs to see if I like that better.

Not getting a lot of controlled feedback - might need to goose it a bit with the GE-10 or a boost.

Oh yeah - stupid me - somehow I managed to trickle some solder into one of my pin slots for my for V1. I did manage to clean it out using a desoldering braid and a small brad, but I am probably going to want to replace that socket in the future. Got a little ugly looking. LOL

Thanks to everyone for their help and inspiration.
