50 watt front and rear panels
George has some 50 watt panels made....but he showed me that the rear gold panel from a '67 and earlier is different, spaced somewhat further apart (jacks, impedance selector, etc.).
The fronts I think he's gonna go with the British version....no polarity switch.
He's working on this problem, says Marshall is known for making chassis locations slightly different from time to time.

Georges panels match perfectly with my 50watters from 69 and 76, ie the steel chassis that he produces.
Early chassis for the 1967 JTM50 I thought were aluminium alloy really do not know whether any steel chassis were made to the aluminium sizes and spacings, George almost certainly does (if he does could he tell us

Yeah, the non-export (UK) panels don't have a polarity switch on the front. Lacking this switch (and label) on the front panel, I think the panel lines up perfectly.
The Rear panels are another story.George himself showed me that some rear plexi panels he had on hand were slightly off, like 1/4" or so.This is on my '68 and later models.
George said it was a Marshall trait to move things around from time to time, and showed me "Block - off Plates" on my rear chassis that were installed, with machine screws.
I don't think 50 watt heads were made with aluminum chassis, and I think they were just called "50 watt" models.Nowhere on my amp chassis does it say JTM, 50 watt, or anything except the serial number;and "James Marshall LTD, England"
George said mine was a "Transition Model"...no tube rectifier, both small and large sized pots.
Maybe George will clarify this, I know he said no more plexi panels will be ordered for the 50 watt until the variations are confirmed. He held up the rear panel to mine, and to another 50 watt head, and got the same result.
I was saddened that I can't restore mine to look new,George said to leave the grungy chassis intact, etc.,and I got the distinct impression that there would not be a front panel made with provision for a polarity switch...an import (to U.S. and elsewhere). He said it would be worth more left intact.
The tagboard was a dark brown color, and the machine screws holding it in place didn't match up with the nuts he had on hand.Apparently the machine screws were a different size or thread pitch. S.A.E.? Metric?
Then again, I don't plan to ever sell it.

Nardis Amps makes a front panel with a polarity switch -- he's usually got at least one on eBay at all times so you can check it out.

He's pricey but they're really nice panels.

50 Watt Face Plates w/Polarity for Export (non - UK) Models
Yes, those are nice....I especially like the part about being "Reverse Engraved" so the lettering does not scratch off.
Maybe we can influence George to stock his version of the front faceplates with polarity...I'd think there were more U.S. models around than U.K....(Here in the USA).
What do you say,George? I can wait a LONG time....for the right authentic appearing part.

It would be cool to have a plexi panelled big box 50 watt, with a full size rear panel as in a 100 watt head,or am I dreaming, the original short back panel 50's I dont care for!

I like the small head box.....they were only made for a short time, then Marshall standardized on the larger cabinets for reasons of build/storage efficiency.
That makes sense from a manufacturing perspective....all heads using the same box....less mix-ups,less switching of tooling for different models...saves $.
I'd like my head to look as new and stock as it can be,but it's the SOUND that prompted me to buy it in the 1st. place.
Since I bought it from a player in the mid 80's , and he came to me....I paid very little for it.I don't even remember who I bought it from!
Correction - I read that ALL Plexi - Marshall heads had "Reverse - engraving" of the writing.
