I am new to this forum (transplanted from the defunked 18 watt for now) and I am building a 50watt plexi 2204. I would like to make my own chassis and am looking for some help with dimensions. Is it appropriate to ask this here or is this site only to support George's store? I ask this with utmost respect as I really don't want to upset anyone here and I really don't know. If this site is to support builders of Metro kits only, then I should go somewhere else.

PS.....here is a pic of my board so far.

I don't think a chassis size is very hush-hush. The standard small box chassis, JTM 45, etc, is 16 7/8" wide and 6 3/8" deep. That doesn't include the 1/2" or so on each end for the mounting bolts.

Thanks...I just don't have one to mimic...I assume the depth is 2 1/2 to 3 inches or so.....? Regards

I hope I speak for the others but most here are very easy going and there is a lot of expertise available, I am learning all the time and help is often to hand.
I just find that the Metro stuff is the best quality I have seen (Nic at Ceriatone is great but I think the quality here is sl better although correspondingly more in $ ie still great value).
Stick around and you may be converted (hope I don't sound like an evangelist )

neikeel...thanks for the welcome...I don't have any problem with kits (and George's kits seem to be great and the support here is teriffic). I just have a tight budget and good access to surplus elect parts local. It is alot of fun for me to make my own. I will always need help with elect theory and tube function etc. I am learning. Anyway.....thanks

Well I can' speak for Metro or Ceriatones 100watt chassis but I have both Metro 45/50 and Ceriatone 45/50 style chassis and Ceriatone chassis seem to be a little better quality to me. I would venture to say that Ceriatone is a little more refined. Parts wise I don't know what Nik offers really. All I have ever bought from him were chassis and panels. He does use the same sockets and switches that George uses so I know that much. George carries more cool parts like BC and some other cool things. plus Georges 100watt dag tranny is the bomb. So they both have their strengths and weakness. George is pricey and Ceria is cheaper. I buy my chassis and panels from Ceria and little parts and whatnot from George. I try to buy my trannys vintage and if I can't then I go Marstran. I don't know if Marstrans SLP 100watter is better than Metros or not. I've never heard them A/B'd. All I know is that Brian Wallace seems to be the worlds number 1 expert on JTM45 and JTM50 and JMP50 amps. So I assume his 45/50 trannys are the first and last word in that area.
