P...als for different OD tones (or right over the top) will be the way to go.
In a perfect world, we'd all have them set between 8-10 and roll our volume knobs on our guitars for clean and OD tones, but that's just not going to happen in most cases...which really sucks...coming from an era where cranking a 50 watt was the norm...
It seems that I've been living in a perfect world for the last years.
I've been using 30-50w amps and everything from one 2x10" to one 4x12" and one 2x10" (at the same time)

UPDATES:
The chassis is steel.
I've spent the week working on the instructions and really trying to take these ones beyond the JTM 45 documentation. So far, I'm on step 18 and no components are installed on the board. I suspect we'll end up at about 22 steps for assembly and 3 or 4 for testing. Plus, an appendix with 6-8 pages of diagrams, alternate specs, 220 and 240V wiring etc.
These instructions also feature 2-3 times more images than the JTM 45. The images are clearer, more concise and specific to one particular task. As opposed to a large picture and several steps.
I'm working through the weekend to finish these up. I gave myself 1 week to develop the 50 watt kit and today I'm at day 12. Overall, I'll have 100 hours into this project.
We have also inventoried and prepackaged most components and hardware specifically for this kit.

How'd the pre-order go? Wondered if you had enough to go around or not?

Going well. About (5) kits ordered so far. We're in good shape, since I'm stocking enough parts to ship at least (25) kits.

I was lucky enough to see a sneak preview of the instructio and they blow the doors off the 45 instructions! Absolutely amazing photos!
Hey George, you told me you like to listen to music of what you want your amp to sound like... just curious as to what you have playing in the shop today?

Hmmmm, today it's been NPR. Hope I don't subliminally write politics into these instructions.

Unless of course it's this kind of politics...

I will be ordering one, but am kind of short on cash after my latest Les Paul stunt... My 30th birthday is coming up though, maybe I should put this on the wish list?

Wow, I don't check in for a few weeks and look what I miss! The last time I was here, the 50w kit wasn't released, and the impossibly complete instruction manual was nowhere to be seen. I just ordered the 50w kit, and can't wait. Kudos George for the instructions, they are awesome; and a hefty pat on the back as well for getting this kit off the ground and out of the shop. Oh! And, DAMN YOU, Jim, for getting the first one!!!

I've been debating the same question as Roe. Anyone?
