I finally contacted him. He offered a refund but I decided to keep the amp and he is going to send me $250 in compensation. Hell, I just sold a 69 just like this one w/ original trannies /changed components for $3500 last year on ebay.

The filter cap arrangement on the 69 metal panels varies.
When the stand up PT came in the caps all went up top. The chassis is still drilled with two pairs of holes for the internal cap (at least mine is).
I believe most with laydown PT still used the internal chassis mounted cap.
The amp looks pretty original otherwise, and yes the stamp on the side is the date, I have three PTs with the date on between 76 and 83.
If it sounds good why meddle?
I would only replace it if you can find a proper -139 OT. My Marstran OT sounds very good, as good as the original 139 in my 69 and the Douglas in my 76.
I would still try haggling on the price though if the vendor stated they were original as this clearly is not

I found an original trannie. The one in the amp is lacking the 16 ohm tap.neikeel wrote:The filter cap arrangement on the 69 metal panels varies.

I'm going to use the original green resistors.neikeel wrote:Putting a homebrew effects loop in?
I've been putting in Welwyn 7watters for my screens, what are you using?
Somebody added two extra speaker jacks but they were funky looking so I removed them. I will be installing some original jacks soon.

That setup is for amps sent to Sweden. That's what the label on the back is. Here is another one from my site. http://marstran.com/6768%2010934.htmBrian Wallace wrote:

Dallas 50 watt amp purchas with a happy ending
I just finished changing the OP trannie, installed NOS screen resistors, replaces a leaking coupling cap with a NOS .022 mustard, installed a bias pot and it sounds realy good.
