Not to hijack here, but when you refer to the open book headstock, you mean that the non-export Japan Epiphone LP's have the same headstock as the USA LP's...if so, that's cool, I've never been a huge fan of the Epi headstock on an LP.chickenbop wrote:I currently own an epiphone les paul that was made in japan(not for export) and it's amazing for the $600 I spent on it(nitro finish, long neck tenon, open book headstock, lightweight for an lp).
Please, tutor me on Les Pauls.. =)

Damn dude, that's fucking awesome, I'll have to keep an eye out for those on the eBay. I had no idea. IMO, I always wondered why Epiphone had to put their scroll work on the headstock and not go w/Gibson's open book headstock. It's kind of like Squier and Fender, I'll play the MIJ Squiers b/c they are good guitars, but they also look the part, I wish the Epi's on the American market did that (for the SG, LP, etc.) looks better IMO, they might sell more? Very cool to know that.chickenbop wrote:Yep,that's it.They're awesome.I think it was called an epiphone limited or something?I'm not sure because I bought it used from a japanese seller on ebay with so-so english.
