i listened to the transformer clones sound clips and for me, the metroamp dagnal clone seems to be the closest to the original one.
the mercury seems to be more midrangey with fuller low mids and more pronounced upper mids than the other.
the mercury also seems to have less low end ( less low end oomph, not the more peak resonant low mid ones ) and clarity (airy top end ) which are the marshall characteristic sounding of the late 60's early 70's era.
at least , it 's what i hear listening to the sound clips.
it sounds closer to my 69' plexi supearlead than the mercury.
i think i'll get one for my 95' 1959slp ri.that really has too much low and fizzy high end but not those scooped rough mids !

the previous post i wrote was based on the "tush " sound clips, but it seems to do not be that noticeable in the "allright now " parts.
on this one, the original dagnall seems to have more low end that the other two, but it could be the recording settings .
anyway, it's not exactly the same to hear them through recordings than in reality, to really judge the differences, cause these perceived difference can be the mic position, volume ,picking attack (especialy with these amps) and other settings; even the volume you listen to these clips plays a role.

When you play the ZZ Top song is when i noticed a subtle differance. Not much and you really have to listen to it to tell. A non musician I think would never know the differance IMO. I would go with the Clone or the second clip if thats the clone. Initially I wanted to say more bottom end like in the first note or two of the ZZ Top song but I would say the Clone Trannie had a cleaner tone and subsequently pushed a tighter low end frequency through the speakers .

Any chance of getting the tranny comparison clips posted again?
