Which transformers for a JCM800?

Post by Hthomas » Sun May 13, 2012 11:30 pm

Hey guys, I am working on getting together all my parts for a jcm800 I'm gonna build. What transformers and choke would you all suggest? I am going for a pretty aggressive 800 type tone.

thanks!

Triode sells a JCM800 bundle. Guys seem to be raving about those classictone transformers.
I'm using their PT in a 5e3 and it's as expected.

Tempted to try their OT as well. Very good pricing.

I am currently replacing a P/T in a '76 Superlead with 6550's. Chris M e r r e n says he has a killer replacement unit that will wire up no problem, so I may go with that. There are cheaper ones out there, but Chris's materials are second to none.
