Classic Tone 40-18023 vs. Drake 1202-324/1 wire colors

Post by 70vetteman » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:34 pm

I am in the process of building a 50W plexi kit in a 1987x chassis. I am using Classic Tone transformers for PT, OT, and choke. Since the 87x had the voltage selector, I am basing the wiring for the PT on the wiring of my 1981 Marshall 2204 and pics of the 1987x before I disassembled it. It appears the wiring for the PT for both of those amps was the same when comparing. Are the wire colors of the Classic Tone 40-18023 the same as the Drake 1202-324/1 PT? They appear to be and based on the schematic of the Classic Tone PT, I believe they are the same. I just need someone to confirm that for me so that I don't blow my brand new PT.

http://www.classictone.net/40-18023.pdf------ schematic for your PT
http://mhuss.com/MyJCM/JCM800_2204.pdf JCM 800 2204 schematic that shows PT color codes
the color codes seem to match--- but, as a builder, you are responsible for verifying that the PT that you have in your possession matches the schematics.
Use your DMM, to take simple resistance readings, so that you're sure that what is printed on the schematics does match the PT you're about to install....................gldtp99

Thanks for the info. I have checked everything and all appears to be well with the PT.
