Capacitor multiplier

I read Merlin Blancowe book about power supplies
he talk about capacitor multiplier, as modern replacement of choke

Anyone ever tried here capacitor multiplier instead of the typical choke?
How does it sound, compare to the choke?

I will try myself capacitor multiplier in my el84 amp, but i have no choke, just 100 ohm res.
