Need Help to identify OT Mod 1959 RI

Post by Stephand » Tue Nov 01, 2011 10:04 pm

Hi

I have this 1959 that sound really great. I was looking inside to see how in good shape this amp is. Everything look stock except the OT output transformer. The OT it self is original but there is a component on the red wire of the OT that look to be a mod.

I can't see what is it because the white shrink on it. The other brown and yellow wire have no mod on it. Only Red one.

Is somebody have a clue of what is this thing? :what:

This amp is from L.A. region where a lot of mod guys living I believe. :evh:

Thanks a lot metro amp community

It would help if you posted some decent pictures. Bigger, wider shots... so you can see what's goin' on... :what:

Hi Chrisom
I can but you will not see more them what is on these pictures. mean from the OT side there is black liquid tape. From the inside, there is this part in the hole cover buy a white shrink.

Is it a commun pratice to put a component on the red wire OT?
Do you know what is for?

Obviously I can remove the part but I try to not touch it too much.

What do you think?

It look as if someone extended the wire... removed the endbells and extented the wire... from the outside chassi pic, it looks as if that person put some black colour on it for some reason...

Thanks ralle.
This is a MC mod. What I heard is he does mod the OT for his Dough mod. I'm just not familiar enough with the OT to know what can be done here.

Do you have some ideas?

Thanks
Stephane
