Marshall 100W 67/68 B+ voltage

Post by wrea398 » Thu Mar 17, 2011 5:57 pm

HI guys. I am doing a 67/68 100w and ordered a Mercury Mag # MP100-68 transformer with 460 B+ voltage. I was told by Patrick at MM that this would be ideal for the 67/68 Plexi style 100 watters. Any thoughts? I know the later 68-73 100w versions by Metro shows B+ voltages in the 495-498 range when checked during the power up procedures in the instructions. The 12 series switch takes the voltages way down to the 400+ range. Anybody used the MP100-68? What are your opinions. I'ts been payed for so I guess I'm going to try it regardless. Thanks!

Fellow forum member jbzoso2002 runs his metro build on the 410v tap, the higher tap created red plating on his new production EL34's. The amp sounds great but he did say it sounded better on the higher tap.
