Hi Briango,

This PT has been released to production. If all goes well, it should be ready and available through distributorship late next week or early the following week. :wink:

update: jtm45 pt works great. I very much prefer it over the metro pt since this one has the right voltages

Good news Joe...I need one soon. I wish your heater taps on the ClassicTone Marshall PT's were 8A and then I could really use more of them :)

Thanks,

Brian

Briango,

Yes, we are looking forward to bringing the new project amp PT to you and others here! Although it will be bigger and more expensive than our more standard Marshall PT offerings, it does have a lot more great features and options.

Joe Gave me the heads up that this transformer will be available at triode most likely the first week of april. The bulk Pricing looks to be $85.00, so I don't know what the Triode retail translation would be, but would be a steal none the less regardless for probably one of the Most robust, and versitile tranformers in its class

We are fast approaching the introduction of the new ClassicTone # 40-18069 which is the new Universal Project amp power transformer that was created as a result of our friends here from this forum and the Sloclone forum with many of your input. I have supplied a link to the specifications as well as a link to the new "Project Style Transformer" page on our ClassicTone website with details of this part.

http://www.classictone.net/40-18069.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.classictone.net/Project-Styl ... rmers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I will be posting the 40-18069 part page in the next few days as well with even additional details about this part. If all goes well, it may be available through Triode Electronics as early as next week but more likely the following week.

Thank you all for all of your feedback with this idea. I think this is a really nice and multi-purpose power transformer that will make you high gain fanatics and DIY guys very happy. Enjoy!

Hi Joe,

nice to see that this "project- work" will be soon available!
I hope that the shippingcosts to Germany for this iron will not cost a fortune :palm:

Regards

Robert

I hope you guys like it. Although it comes in at a shipping weight of just under 15 lbs, it is a nice piece of iron! :rock:

I originally spec'd out a Classic Tone Laydown PT for my 12000 build, but after reading more and deciding I wanted a Virtual Variac switch I came across this thread and it seems this PT is the better option. Since this is my first build I have some basic questions as I'm sourcing my parts & making purchases.

1. I purchased one of George's '68 100w steel chassis. Will I need a mounting kit for the new dual voltage PT (40-18069)? If yes, is the Mounting Bracket the proper one to use?

2. Is the mounting for this new PT compatible with George's '68 100w chassis or will I need to drill anything?

3. Is the Classic Tone 40-18026 OT the best match for this new PT?

4. Does this OT require any mounting bracket in George's steel chassis?

Thanks for any help/feedback/ideas.

I would still stick with the 40-18046 laydown PT instead of the 40-18069 PT for the 100W '68 Plexi Metro chassis since it should most likely fit in the cutout hole for the PT in Metro amps chassis. Like the upright 40-18069, the 40-18046 is a very high quality PT and I consider it one of the best PTs in our ClassicTone line. It features a copper flux band and the best available M-6 steel for cool running and high performance. So, yes, assuming this will fit in the existing chassis hole in the '68 100W Metro Amp chassis, the 40-18046 is the best and most appropriate choice for the '68 100W Plexi amp in my opinion. :D

Also, yes, I believe the 40-18026 is a good choice for the output transformer for this amp as well. Our mounting bracket set 40-18036 would work with the 40-18026. It is an optional reinforcement bracket set and isn't necessarily required for installation of this OT. Will the 40-18026 fit in the Metro chassis without needing to drill additional holes? I do not honestly know since I do not know the specs of George's Metro chassis. If you have the owner's manual for the chassis, it may have the hole dimensions. You might want to compare the chassis spec in the chassis owner's manual to our individual part specs. All of our transformer specs including the dimensional specs are supplied on the following web pages which include product description, links to these specs, pricing, where to purchase, etc.:

Thanks you! :thumbsup:

Thanks Joe. That answered a lot of my questions.

On your recommendation for the CT laydown PT, could you elaborate on why? Was your suggestion based on historical accuracy of the '68 plexi? Or something more physical in nature (size weight orientation etc)? The main attraction to the 40-18069 for me was the dual power which I'm interested in for an EVH sound using George's "virtual variac" circuit. I'm looking to build an amp that has a great sound, the '68 model authenticity is not an important factor to me. I know Heyboer has a laydown PT with dual voltage (which is to George's specs) but right now that iron is a bit out of my price range...and I'm already convinced you guys have some amazing sounding hardware, excellent reliability and care about your customers! I'm sold on MC...just want to order the right hardware and get some idea of what issues I'll need to navigate to incorporate it in my build.

Again, I appreciate your comments/suggestions and your interaction here on the forums. Many thanks!
