Re: Magnetics Corp
I have 6 Magnetic corp. power transformer, some are in my SL and others are in my 2203, I've noticed the PT getting real HOT, I mean real Hot and there's been discussions here about that problem/concern. My Hammond does not do that. Why does the MC tranies get real?

Re: Magnetics Corp
Hi Axeman,
Following is a response to this earlier:
"I also want to address comments on our ClassicTone Marshall style 100W power transformers. Essentially, our upright mounted 100W PT 40-18024 have been on the market for over 8 years without any problems. They do run a bit hot but they are built to last a long time and perform well. We have produced about 2000 pieces of these since 2002 with only 1 known reject. They are good transformers. In general, these are built to withstand as much as 264 F degrees but are running at almost half that temperature when the amp is used continuously at high volumes (which is rare). They also use a specially formulated varnish as well as a special military style varnishing process that helps our transformers last longer. These are built to withstand running at hot temperatures and are in no way inferior products.
See our 40-18024 per the following link:
http://www.classictone.net/40-18024.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
By request and for those of you who are still uncomfortable with the hot running nature of the part, we have actually improved our 40-18024 with the upcoming production run and it now features two wire sizes heavier for about a 20 F degree cooler running (at the same price as well!).
Also, for those of you who want the best, cool running versions of 100W Marshall style transformers, we have recently introduced our 40-18053 which features the best, cool running M-6 steel as well as a flux band for added performance. We also just introduced a laydown style version of the 100W Marshall style transformer with M-6 steel and flux band as well. Please see links on these below:
http://www.classictone.net/40-18053.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.classictone.net/40-18046.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ..............."
The hotter running nature of these really is not a problem. They are built for it using high quality materials and solid, time honored manufacturing processes. There is no need to worry about it at all....seriously. Do they perform well and have you had any failures with any of these? In fact, they probably perform better and provide superior tone to the non-vintage constructed Hammond nylon bobbin trannies in your amps since you now own 6 of them. Correct? Also, other components in amplifiers such as tubes run hot. Do you touch them?...probably not. As mentioned above, we actually have made slight construction changes to the 40-18024 without degrading the tonal qualities of these in recent months. These changes help lower the operating temperatures approximately 20 degrees now. We have made these changes per the suggestion of members of the Metro Amp Forum even though there has not been any known problems with them other than just running hot. As you can see and unlike the competition, I am listening and reacting to my customers concerns here at the Metro Amp Forum. We even now offer other even cooler running, upgrade variations of the 100W Marshall PT's now such as the 40-18053 and 40-18046. You might want to try one of the new 40-18053 (upright) or 40-18046 (laydown style) if heat is your only concern. Exactly what is the problem here other than heat? Please enjoy the great quality and prices of our ClassicTone transformers. Thank you and we appreciate your business Axeman!

Re: Magnetics Corp
I'd love a twin/showmanexport PT that delievers true ab763 voltages (460v b+) or even AC568 voltages (470v b+). most new trannies give too low voltages for that classical sound. the 6l6s handles it fine

Re: Magnetics Corp
Hi Roe,
Hmmm. We do plan to introduce a 120/240V version of the Twin/Showman 100W PT sometime early in 2011. A higher B+ option will be considered.

No probs , thank you , your transformers are really amazing , especially for the price. I can hardly hear a difference between the classic tone and the metro spec heyboer . Im building a couple of amps for a few friends soon so ill be ordering some more. Customer service is great too, you made a mistake with the value of the package and i got charged twice for import duty , i contacted you and got a refund immediately !!! Highly recommended.ClassicTone wrote:Thanks univalve1234!

Fantasic! I am happy to hear that. We aim to please and it makes my job of producing and selling transformers so much more enjoyable hearing the positive feedback on our product.
Out of curiosity, who did you buy them from? Which distributor? Amp Parts Direct or Triode Electronics?
Thanks again!

It was triode electronics
