Heyboer 352-144 Wire Rating

Post by tonemerc » Mon Mar 15, 2010 4:25 pm

I just picked up a choke to try in my JTM45 build a Heyboer 3H, 100mA, 352-114 and the wire size and voltage rating seems to be a bit on the small side. What's the wire size and voltage rating of the 5H Metro?

7 amps, 300V. Conservatively rated on the voltage spec.

The wire looks to be about the same size as the model in the store front. The wire is 300V rated and appears to be maybe 22AWG, which is rated at 7A max for chassis wiring and even at 24AWG, it's 3.5A. It was mainly the insulation rating that I was concerned about as all the other chokes that I've used or have on hand has 600 or 1000V rated wire.

If is good enough for you Sir, its definitely good enough for me. :)

Thanks again

The choke shouldn't be seeing anywhere near 300V across it...otherwise your preamp voltage would be going to shit at that point. Not only that but that would be some pretty excessive screen current to pull that off...you'd melt the choke not to mention the screens long before the wire became a problem. As such, the wire rating is more than enough for a choke application.
