I have used 6k6 to 10k with differing but great results, most go with 8K.

Thanks Andy that was really reassuring.

Now next question, please.

If an OT primary has PX4 taps and 6L6 taps sounds like the 6L6 taps would be best (I cannot find the optimum inpedence for PX4s) which I believe are in the 6k6 to 8k range.
Secondaries are common 2/4/8 and 15

Yes, I know, if I was not so idle (well busy actually) I could work out the turns ratio with 5v from an old PT heater tap and measure V on the secondary.
