Marstran C1999 3H choke

Post by joshwilson3 » Sun Jan 07, 2007 1:05 am

Is the Marstran C1999 3H choke the one that would go in a Marshall Master Volume?

I've recently ordered a Power Tranny and a 1.5" Output 100w Tranny from ******, and I need to get a choke. If I hadn't of gone with ******, I would probably have gone with Marstran. So, I figure I'd get a Marstran choke then.

Thanks 8)

not getting too many responses there Josh. From what little I know, the 3h choke will work in a 100watt marshall fine. 3-to 20 have been suggested. I have the mercury mag 3.3h in mine. From what I've been told, the lower value chokes will sound dirtier & more organic, whereas the higher values will sound "cleaner" & tighter, but maybe a little more sterile? this is all annecdotal, i have not heard this for myself yet. hope this helps.

i know the older ones used 3h, even thought the schematics often read 20h. not sure about newer mv amps. we need one of the metal panel aces to chime in. don't think it needs covers? here's one reference:
