Vox vs. Marshall chokes

Post by rockford » Mon Aug 20, 2007 7:46 pm

Anybody that knows this, please chime in. I've been reading a lot about different chokes on this board, mostly pertaining to marshalls BUT I'm
curious if people use 3H, 7H, 10H or 20H for different jtm45, 50 watt,
super lead and more, why do I never see anything about vox (ac30 ) choke
ranges ? I assume people do it, but I cant find any info on it. I have a nice vox clone, and after putting good NOS tubes in it, the amp plays harder,
doesnt have nice give & blend detween notes. I get more clarity with the good NOS tubes, but I'm thinking about a more "forgiving" choke. I did put in a NOS mullard (RCA) circa 1963 5AR4 in, could the tube be THAT much more robust than the jj it replaced ? Everybody welcome to give their 2 cents.
