I think it would be easier to get the USB/Audio adapter (if it's not build into the POD) and run the POD or multi-effects directly into the computer.JimiJames wrote:I musta missed the point here...???BashCoder wrote:Do you mean you're putting a mic directly into the GuitarPort?Billy Batz wrote:Im finding it hard to record a guitar clip worth a damn with it thoguh. so... your not recording direct from the computer? "what you here" setting?
If yes ....why? curious

Very interesting thread, I've been tempted by the Line 6 stuff for a while now. You're right though, in the hands of the wrong person, it can sound like shit. I've seen great players use this, but unfortunately the tone isn't so great. Definately a great tool to quickly record ideas, get them on the PC w/decent sounds.

i have some friends who just did an "album" & ended up recording guitars straight into the board basically with an emulator plugin. then decided they didn't like it, so they ran that direct recorded signal to a nice amp & re-recorded it. pretty strange way to do this, but it actually came out pretty nice for what it was.

O.K. gotcha...I was a wee bit cornfused because the GP/UX2 are for recording straight to the computer...Billy Batz wrote:Simple. I get a PODxt and Bassxt to record and play with. All the FX. And a way of making good clips from that little box. If I can turn it up a bit that is.
It just seemed you were going in a roundabout way to record but I get it

The UX2 is just a GP but it has mic preamps and mic preamp models and studio effect models included. I think they sound really great for what it is so far especially with vocals and acoustic accept with electric guitar. I just havent been able to record decent guitar with the volume and room I have to record in. So far the ACDC sample in my clips page is what Ive been able to do. I could do it now being home but my 67 rig isnt at my house.

Ya know thinking about it, that's a good idea to get me one of those UX2's just for the mic in's as a backup to my M-Audio FireWire 410.
I actually have my Guitar Port installed in an empty bay and aligned it so your guitar cord plugs into the front of the computer like a USB cord or something...

how are you liking the m-audio firewire? i didn't know if the usb would be ok or if i should go with with the f-wire. i know it's faster, but how significant this is as an interface i don't know.

The biggest prob's with recording gear is latency. I strongly urge you to get the FireWire and do not conform to the computers original hardware.
If you dont have a FW port on the comp then get a card. They're cheap. Slap it in an open slot and utilize your computers potential not it's limitaions...
As for the M-Audio FW410, putting it short & sweet ... what ever it "hears" it gives it right back !
I use two types of mike's old faithful Sure SM57 & a Beyerdynamic M-201N for its flat response no color added.
