Cubase 4 is out!

Post by VelvetGeorge » Thu Sep 21, 2006 2:59 pm

Looks like lots of cool new features, that will be in Nuendo 4 when it arrives.

I've never used Cubase myself, having come straight from Logic to Nuendo. But, I couldn't pass up a special offer for Nuendo owners: Cubase 4 complete version with dongle for $199.

Maybe I can put this on a laptop some day....

I thought I was pretty "up" on technology but I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. Is that English or some secret Metro tongue???

I think he is referring to the fact that the software has a USB dongle and they tend to suck. Especially when upgrading or having more than one on a system.

Thet are still better than Iloc IMO.

I didn't mind having the simple hardware dongle back in the Cubase VST days...I just don't like have the syncrosoft lisencing software having to run and integrate with other audio apps...it can make updating any related software (Halion, etc) a nightmare. Maybe it's fine for most folks...I'm just a bit skittish due to a Nuendo 3 install I was trying to help a friend with...let's just say old motu midi drivers for a parallel port microexpress and Syncrosoft refused to play nice....the install overwrote the midi drivers....even after uninstalling Nuendo and the motu drivers, then reinstalling the drivers by themselves...it messed up XP's recognition of the drivers somehow. Spent a week installing, uninstalling, manually cleaning any reference from the system registry and sys folder....never did resolve the problem....Friend ended up returning it and sticking with Nuendo 2.

I agree in licensing and protection methods but this shit is too problematic and a real killjoy, imo, when you just want to get things set up and rolling.

YMMV,
Pete
