I'm after some headphones for home recording in roughly the £50 and under range, here's what I need:

• Most important use is to block out extraneous noise as I'm in a small space with a loud amp, so I think covered ear type is a must
• Gives a reasonably good reproduction of the sound, but I'm not looking for perfection there (the point above is much more important)
• Infa-red would be nice, as like I said it's quite a small space and wires could end up being a pain in the ass

any recommendations?

any technics, akg sony etc would be cool, i recently purchased some
AKG head phones and they are fanomenal ( i know it was spelt wrong i was just exagerating it) ebay in the uk is a good place to buy headphones btw sennheiser are pretty good 2

All of the above is not possible for £50. Forget about the wireless and focus on the other two points. AKG are always a good bet. Try www.thomann.de , www.musicstore.de , and www.dv247.com , I've bought from them all.

i have a pair of the sony mdr7506

i got my technics headphones for £20 they cancel out all noise but they have a cable and it is 3 meters you can buy them off of ebay in the uk for £10 i got ripped buying from argos.

these akgs are awesome fantastic bass response. i heard some of my rock through them and the bass drum sounded as if i was there when the artist was recording it!

£15 for a pair of good headphones is not bad. i did my research on these and they are about £30 everywhere else!

Those aren't closed, you won't really get much rejection of outside noise. Bainzy, try Ebay for some beyerdynamic DT100s and see if you can turn up something in your budget. You can get replacement ear pads too.

Also consider getting two sets of headphones. I use a set of Sony or Audio Technicas for mixing and most uses. For drums and guitar (I play both) I use a set of Awia noise cancelling headphones. Although not perfect, they do give a good idea of how it sounds and don't have to be as loud. The cancelling is not perfect, but good enough to avoid the hollow sound a bleading background can cause.

It has been especially great for drums since I can hear everything pretty well, I don't tend to play quite as hard which helps the resulting tone of the drums.

Forget wireless, but buy a long extension cable. The Wireless is a great idea but can introduce noise, especially with guitar amps and pickups.

Did an eBay search, new they were £79 buy it now. Hopefully I should be able to buy a used pair in my budget, as the spec that was on the auction seemed really good and what I'm after.
