School me on recording
After a good few years of playing guitar I`ve only recorded myself through a cheap tape recorder. Can anyone give me adivce on a little setup that would produce some decent sounding clips and not empty my wallet. I`m assuming for starters I`d need a somethimg like a tascam recorder and a mic. Thanks in advance.

I use Reaper Software (GREAT Software for a great price)
http://www.cockos.com/reaper/download.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Cascade Fathead Ribbon Mic: (also SM57)
http://www.cascademicrophones.com/ca...AT%20HEAD.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Presonus Firebox:
http://www.presonus.com/products/Det...px?ProductId=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR7506-P.../dp/B000AJIF4E" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is a relatively inexpensive way to get GREAT recordings IMO... Then all you need to do is experiment with Mic placement!!

If you need it cheap with video and state-of-the-art patent pending sound compression check out Flip Video
I did a vid myself and sounds good !
Check this out with a Gibson '57 BlackBird LP and a 18 wt. Suhr Badger loaded with a Celestion Gold.
just a bit of reverb is all... click here
Here's another with my room mate and his TrainWreck. click here
