How exactly do you setup stage monitors to you amp etc..?

Do you like first plug in the cab to the amp, and than with the other amp output plug the monitor in? what if you have 2 cabs? can anyone explain this whole thing to me? thanks!

When you say "stage monitors", are you referring to the PA stage monitors? Floor wedges? The ones that your band mix and vocals come through?

Monitors are part of the PA, and have nothing to do with your amp.

They are run by the guy at the mixer in the hall, or, if you´re lucky, by a guy on stage. If you are even more lucky, he is awake, and understands sign language...

The monitors allow you to hear whatever instruments or vocals you can't hear naturally on stage. The microphones and DI (direct input) boxes on the drums, keys, guitar amps, vocals, etc. are run to a house and a monitor mixing console. The monitor console controls the stage monitors, and the house console covers the front of house PA. If you are a singer, you are naturally going to need to hear your vocal mic. You might need to hear other vocals, keyboards, bass and drums, whatever... You probably aren't going to need more of your amp unless you're using a low powered amp and the rest of the band is drowning you out.

Stage Monitors are part of the PA system.Your guitar mic will be plugged into the snake,which will go to the front board and the soundman can then send whatever instruments you want to hear in your monitors back to the stage(monitor amp(s)and monitors)through an AUX out on the board.This is the way most bands have there own systems setup
Or in a professional system your miced guitar will go to the snake which will have split on it.Sending your signal to the front board for the house and also to a second monitor board were a monitorman will give you the mix you want from the side of the stage.In this case usualy they will have multiple monitor mixes,so every musician can get there own personal monitor mix.This requires a seperate power amp per monitor mix.

Personally I always like to go with nothing in the monitors except for vocals. That is unless you have a monster monitor system, your band plays really quiet or you don't mind not being able to hear the vocals.
