pro tools for xp?

Post by 45auto » Fri May 30, 2008 11:29 am

i have looked at digidesign's site, & looked at sites like GC, musicians friend etc, to no avail. it looks like pro tools is available for xp, but, all i see is upgrades. i can't find any reference to a full version of software for this? WTH? can somebody enlighten me briefly? & are there any users here? I am a cubase guy so far. TIA[/u]

to use pro tools you need pro tools compatible hardware.
e.g. an mbox.

it kind of looked that way, hard to tell really, requirements don't state that very clearly. they say stuff about compatible hardware. my delta-44 was listed.

may not, just would like to see why everybody uses it. i had ALOT of reliability issues with cubase & windows prior to sx2 lets say. there was always some excuse why it couldn't perform properly. protools has some nice plugins too.

I have a delta 66 in my mastering DAW and it works with M-powered Pro tools 7.0 and above I think it will work with a 44 also.

I've been using SX3 in my tracking DAW for two years with an RME HDSP 96/52 it works flawlessly but it hates the Delta 66.

i thought so. "m-powered" my sx3 works pretty good now. it took a LONG time to happen! ALOT of drivers & tweaks. i should probably update my soundcard a grade soon. the 44 has been pretty decent for the money. it still does some interesting tricks here & there. it will just change settings on it's own occasionally. annoying but workable. thanks
