67 condenser in UX2?
I just got my line6 toneport ux2 and was playing with it, man what a fun toy.
They give you a small collection of mic's to choose from, an sm57 on and off axis, a 421, and something called a 67 condenser.
What the heck is the 67 condenser? I love the sound of it, what is the model based on? It makes the sm57 sound geeky.
Here is a quick clip from it, I just finished installing everything and have no clue what I'm doing, so it really is THAT easy to use!

Thanks in advance if you know what that is, I'm really curious, I love the sound, if the model is accurate, and I'd love to have the real thing!

Thanks Flames,
Ok, I looked up the price of the neumann U67, and just got finished wiping the coffee off my computer desk after it sprayed from my mouth and nose in shock.
Scratch that mic off the list! Sheesh.
Anything in the under 200 dolla range that sounds close enough?
Or maybe I should rephrase my question, now that I better understand what I should be asking -
What is a good, under $200 condenser mic to use for mic'ing a distorted electric guitar amp?
I'm seeing the studio projects b1 being mentioned alot for meeting that demand. Anyone here agree?
Thanks

Ok, here is a cool web review that has sound clips comparing the akg 414, studio projects c1, and 3 neumanns, u87, modded u87, and the u67.

Good lord, I love that u67. It makes all the others sound wrong.
Why why why do I have expensive tastes and no monster trust fund to pursue them???? Gahhhh.

Search this forum for Oktava mics. There was a thread about mics that had some info about them sounding really close to the U87. I bought two of them and really liked them -- I paid $185 for the pair used.
I also bought a Cascade Fathead ribbon mic based on recommendations here. I haven't gotten to try it out yet though.

The UX2 is a descent tone generator but I hate the fact the claim it is a cloning device. It does not simulate as single amp right. The cloning claims are preposterous IMHO.
Yet you can get some really cool original tones out of it but it could offer better tone shaping features ... I wish I could create amps that don't already exist for example.

I'd agree with that.
I think 99% of the models sound terrible after playing with if for awhile. The only two cab models I like are the 65 fender 1x12, and the 59 gibson 1x10. A couple of the line6 cabs are ok, and I think the mesa model 4x12 is the only 4x12 I can stand. The greenback 4x12 cabs sound atrocious!
The feel on most of the amp models is awful too, they all have no feel, totally stiff. Like I'm plugged into a stereo or something. Even adding a compressor or TWO on alot of the models and they still feel wrong to me, no sag, attack is dead, etc... they just feel silly. I pity the folks who play on these and have never played a good real amp.
However, a couple of the models are really fun. If they gave us the editing tools to make better stuff ourselves, they couldn't gouge everyone later on for model packs. Curse marketing for that crap...

Here are some links to U67 clones, for those who lack the extra $10-15,000 to buy an original:

Here are some nice sounding mics from oktavamod, sound clips:

Check out the one near the bottom, comparing the neumann m149 to the mk219. They are nearly identical, with the mk219 having maybe slightly less sibilance, but also a higher background hiss. Vocal richness and warmth are both excellent. But hey, the m149 is a $5000 mic, and the mk219 is under $500 modded to the hilt.
