emulation software

Post by 45auto » Tue Jul 31, 2007 12:39 pm

hey dudes, i use cubase sx3 mostly. i would really like a quick easy way to just plug in & get:

A a "decent" tone to work with for composing & rough draft purposes
B be able to record a clean (direct) sound to (another?) track

what's the best software going for these purposes? Rockstar/Mark used amplitube I believe with nuendo to do something like this recently with great results. I am just using a M-Audio delta 44 & 4in/4out breakout box at this point. Would a toneport or like be good? (never tried one) What's the best thing out now? TIA

guitarport dude! :) as far as fast set up time goes. or u can get amplitube and install it as a standalone application so you dont have to launch sx3. u using sx3 and amplitube is the same as nuendo/ampolitube or even protools/amplitiube.

and remember with what i did with George, i didn't even need to use amplitube because thats not what i sent him. i sent him the direct track as if i just plugged my guitar into the hardware and recorded direct guitar.
the amplitube was just a means to end to monitor what it would sound like if i was playing through an amp. as u know one would play differently then they do when plugged into an amp or straight dry direct line level guitar. so i used an amp to play and then removed the amp and sent him the direct guitar track.

that's exactly what i'm talking about. can the toneport (usb) record just a straight guitar signal while monitoring the emulated/effected signal? i wasn't sure. i just want to have a decent distorted working sound while i record the straight guitar sound. that way i can go back & work with it later. software would definitely work, but if the toneport would do this, it would be really convenient to just plug it into usb & go. thanks mark.

i've got the delta interface. i was even looking at a thing called a "jamlab"
all it was, was a 1/4" in to a usb.

but if you say the toneport can record unprocessed guitar to track while monitoring a distorted "tone" i'm good with that. thanks

i still think I'm confused here. the way i did it is i pulled up a modeler, amplitube in neundo, dialed in a sound and recorded. after that i removed the plugin( amplitube) and whats left is a very direct clean guitar signal. i used my 002r hardware wise but i could have done the same thing using the guitar port hardware.

what i mean by guitar port or tone port is u can use these as your hardware interface like your delta but u still will have to do it how i did it to be left with a direct guitar signal.

but is this what u are trying to do?
