Goodbye Micheal Anthony!
I am suprised that no one here posted last weeks news release from camp Van Halen that Wolfgang Van Halen, son to Edward is to assume bassist duties. And that Micheal Anthony is no longer a member of Van Halen.Mike has said all along that he felt he was out,and after he and Sammy signed waivers on the last tour excluding them from any profits from merchandising, ect.
Mike for me was an integral part of Van Halen, with his strong backing vocals. He has been playing a lot with Sammy recently,so I wish him well.
Thanks Mike, for your contribution to the legend that was VanHalen, you will be missed and deserve better for your loyalty through the years.

Mike might not be the flashiest bassist alive, but he was an integral part of the VH sound. I cannot imagine them without those harmonies.
If there are reunion talks going, I do hope that Roth tells them he ain't doing it unless Mike is doing it.

Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

I highly doubt van halen will ever reunite with the original lineup. Why? Because too much water has past under the bridge and they just don't have the chemistry between them anymore and the fact that they all have big egos.
Edward is just a shadow of his former self for whatever reason so there's nothing to get excited about anymore. There are plenty of other guitar players out there who are far more interesting and still pushing the boundaries to ever take Eddy's lackluster peformances into consideration............

DRD and EVH are worth more than 2/3 to the Van Halen sound by far.
Many people who met Michael said that he was a great guy to chat with.
Too bad egos get in the way. I mean most of us have a day job and we put up with sometimes even get along, while at work, with a co worker we generally dislike. Why can't Rock Bands try that?

Do you really think for a millisecond that if it were to happen, Roth would be in such a position to make that demand? lol. Highly doubtful.BrownSound1 wrote:Mike might not be the flashiest bassist alive, but he was an integral part of the VH sound. I cannot imagine them without those harmonies.

Cheers to the ears.

Any line up of Van Halen at this time would be pointless. Ed's drinking has taken it's toll, Roth's voice is far from being road worthy, Alex has suffered from severe neck and back problems. The only member who can still pull it off is Michael Anthony, and he is not in the band anymore. Because of petty squabbles and ego's out of control, the spirit in which the tour would take place under is marred. I really have no desire to see any incarnation of Van Halen with the current state of the band. Maybe if Ed would get sober and stop being a megalomaniac, and the band put aside their ego's and differences and played together for the reason they are really here-the music, then I would go! Just my opinion.

Well considering most promoters apparently don't want to touch anything with the Van Halen name anymore unless DLR is involved then yes. After that abortion of a tour with Hagar, they won't settle for anyone else.jnewlyn wrote:Do you really think for a millisecond that if it were to happen, Roth would be in such a position to make that demand? lol. Let me stir up the pot.
Suppose EVH is not interested in a "reunion" with DLR or SH and is interested in the next Van Halen linup (much like when SH replaced DLR). Maybe he feels his kid is the future for the band to get a new sound and new ideas. Could be playing music with his kid, now that I'd speculate he realizes he's no longer in his prime and really doesn't care about pleasing the general public, is what will make him happiest.
Ok, let me have it now...

Sort of like what Kiss is doing with Tommy Thayer and Eric Carr playing Ace and Peter. I can understand where you are coming from, but at this point in Van Halen's career who really fucking cares? I sure as shit don't. When was the last time there was new VH material played on the radio that made you say, "Fuck, that is a great song"! Last time for me was the 1984 album.JD wrote:Let me stir up the pot.
