Hi all,

I'm at the point of starting a build for one of these... I haven't placed an order yet with George, but I need some final words of wisdom from you all on the following. I'm looking for a VH1 tone with a '68 12xxx series replica...

1) I assume I should go with a 12xxx series for VH1 tone, correct?
2) Do I start with the '68 parts list posted by George under the Marshall forum index?
3) Should I get the trimode variac PT?
4) Should I get the PPIMV kit?
5) What OT should I get - the MM?
6) What other 'must-have' items do I need to buy?

I know... lot's of questions, however there is so much darn material in the forum now, it would take me 1 month to go through all Rockstah's posts and clips, etc. I'm hoping someone can help quickly point me where to look so that I can get my kit ordered in time to arrive for Christmas.

it will get you started on your 12 series values on the board-
where there are options go with the dual 32's and dual 16u for the big caps.

yes get Georges dual tap PT and go with the Merc OJ100 OT

this will get ya started on what you need to get.

you are trying to build THE amp - my advice is to take the month to go through the forums/topics - have the patience and it will pay off. after all this is your wealth of information right here in the database of these forums.
use the search feature - there is an answer for every question with many peoples inputs as well as clips to listen and diagrams ect.
im not the only one that has found evh in a metro build -

you will be for the most part connecting the dots if this is your first build but if you really want to a learn what it all means, get inside that chassis.

knowledge is power when it comes to dialing in that amp.

now order your bare bones kit and start getting a component list together in the store of the values you need based on that layout pdf file.
