****** Mod Clips

I finally got myself to perform the ****** Mod on my Metroamp Plexi. I bought some resistors from Digikey and mounted them to the underside of the chassis. It's at 125 ohms, and the chassis dissipates the heat extremely well. The power tubes glow red when I play but it's well worth the risk.

Here's a clip of it in action........this is a 12 series plexi with a MM OT and ****** specs. My playing is quite sloppy and I wasn't using any good gear to record it, but the general amp tone is still discernable.

Kiiler tone man... Can you do some more of the part in the beginning of Mean Stret, and really let to feedback go out of control.

Sounded pretty good. I have to think the mic and recording was influencing the sound a lot. Were you using a Variac to take some of the stress off tubes and transformer?

I hate that download site. Why anybody uses them is beyond me. I could only down load one file they wouldn't let me down load the second file as a free user. There are other free sites that work so much better with no waiting or limits. Just bit of a rant about that crap site. :x

I really think your a lot closer in that clip then most but its just the way you recorded it. Its dark as hell. If you can get the recording aspect down I think youll wow more people. To me it sounds as good as anyone else thus far.

I've built 12000s with Mercs and ****** Spec, and even through a less than optimum recording you can hear what the ****** Mod is adding.

Hi jake,

your clip sounds good, but IMHO a bit dull/muffled- regarding to the recording gear?

Some quetions:

Did you use seperate resistors from each plate winding to the center tap or did you install the resistors across the plates (from one OT plate winding straight to the other)

What's the wattage of your power resistors, and have you protected the OT/valves with some fuses?

Regards

Robert

Musta missed it. Where can I find info on the ****** Mod?

I agree the amps sounds great, even with recording issues.
