Where's the porn? I thought this was a porno? Talk about bait and switch. The only porn I wanted to slow down in that video was the close up of the Frankenstrat. Actually, I like the type of porn that gives you G.A.S. :P

And WTF happened to his tone? Did he lose his hearing or something? He must have had a real shitty amp to make his Franky sound that bad. If that's what he used.

Sorry for the rant, but as much of a fan I am, I hate both these songs.
Mostly because of the tone, but also the leads. Maybe it's just me, and it's so advanced that I just don't get it or the stuff released right before this on that compilation. It's seems like he's trying too hard to be different from his established style, when he should embrace it, and just let it flow. He's got to be bored with this, after what he acomplished so far. Get out 12301 and all the old pedals, and get back with Dave, Mike, and Alex, and just let her fucking rip already.

Ok Rant over.

I think 12301 was lost in a flight long time, stolen maybe!!

I remember listening to Johnny Cash's last album right before he died. When I heard "Hurt" you could hear the pain in his voice, like he was ready to join June. It still brings chills to my spine.
Listening to Eddie play "Cathrine" was a similar experience but in a slightly diffrent way. He sounds tortured, lost, empty, almost desperate. Watching the video, with the cigarette and joint hanging off the guitar, sweating like a junkie and dropping the guitar at the end for a bottle only adds to that impression.
It's really sad, for me at least, to see the greatest guitarist of the 20th century, the guy who made it fun to play rock guitar again, reduced to secluding himself away and doing a porn soundtrack.
Right after that I listened to that I listened to him on his Japan tour doing a solo. His sound was so alive and organic, his playing was full of soul, like he was having fun.
That's how I would like to remember him when he's gone, which won't be long if he doesn't get clean soon.
Just my opinion.

Mike
Never settle for an amp thats smaller then you are.

C'mon Mike, he's on the upswing now...Slowly, but, he's starting to level out about beating himself up.
You can expect more music from him in the future. From my understanding he did this music as a favor regardless if it was for a porno.
"He'll get some leg tonite fo sure...tell us how you do !...C'mon Mike give us a break !" :P

I decided to listen to this Catherine track and I see end trying thematicaly to try and give soul nd expression to this simple progression.
I would like to believe that this proposed '07 Roth colaboration tour, would happen with Micheal Anthony. On the '04 tour Micheal and Sammy had to sign pre-tour waivers, not to collect any royalties,or extra income from that tour.Micheal went along with that,he is the backbone of VH and it would be like the Stones without Bill Wyman.Micheal has remained true for so long,in this insanity that is Van Halen, and need a better reward,if Roth is back.I want Ed to make it back as much as any of you diehard Van Halen fanatics, and my prime choice for George's Metro that I would buy would be the 12000 series amp with switchable variac function.
Actually one of the coolest portions of the Metro forum when I first joined, was the EVH forum, with a technical basis,I thought that was pretty cool!
Many times this year I have expressed my concern and hope for Ed and his recovery,so he can kick ass again,I feel he can,so lets hope it's on the cards.

Ya know, just sittin hear at my computer at 12:19 in the morning not looking forward to the fact that I have to be at work in less than 6 hours sort of puts thing's in perspective. What more does brotha Ed need to do? He hasen't had to deal with responsibility in many, many years. Never having to worry about getting to work on time or having a boss pull rank. He has the time to do what he wants when he wants to. Any guitar, amp accessory etc is his as soon as he want's it. I often question my desire to learn tube amp circuits if I had the best in the buissiness just waiting to build whatever I wanted them to , like he does. Maybe Eddie will let this happen for those who have afforded him these luxaries, his fan's.

I still like that clip. It sounds a lot like Satch to me. Not the same minor pentatonic over major scale riffage...

Eddie's music is maturing guys...that is most of what it is...His music is sad and soulfull now......tortured was a good anology.....

It is also very fluid...Eddie has been moving to that end since he started. The sustainer and the Floyd... He likes both of those a lot...Once again...that is Eddie...What is missing here is the happy positive feeling songs he once made. That is what everyone is missing...But we all have to grow up. Eddie is no longer in that place.

Oh yeah..and his Magic Marshall...I doubt his Marshall could sound as fluid due to the reduced gain it has...Still I like you prefer that tone over all others...

All just IMHO of course... 8)
