That was great! What struck me the most was that when Ed was noodling, he sounded pretty much like any good guitarist warming up. No magic tone or anything, just some Tube crunch and a few riffs. It's great to see them 'exposed' like that without the smoke and mirrors. Reminds you that it's just four guys in a band who happen to have one of the best guitar players on the planet in it!

Loved it. Wish he didn't turn his back while playing though.

i thought the total opposite - the tone was there right in in his fingers and his amp. he sounded like edward noodling to me. 8)

Every time I see clips like this is make me a tad excited and sad at the same time. What happened to this guy? What freakin talent. And that tone...yeah it was there all the way. I saw that same concert at Giant Stadium. Freakin rocked the timbers I tell ya.

You know...listening to that got me to think..If Ed still could play that way...a album of Zep and Hendrix and other covers would rock with Eddie playing them. I wanted him to play more when I heard it. It sounded better then the originals in many ways.

I've liked Lukather's tone ever since I heard Hold The Line back in the 70's. He's one the most underatted guitarists of all time. I'm sure he didn't even make the top 100 at Rolling Stone. If so, fucking wear that like a badge AFAIK!
