What tubes do you use, in particular, power tubes? I really like the sound of the power tube breakup on your clips 8)

Thanks Bainzy. I have Rubys in my 70 Super Lead, Stock Marshall tubes in my Plexi ri, and Mesa 6L6 430's in my 5150 combo.

Cool, thanks. I'm changing the stock Marshall tubes in my 1959slp but I think they'll be nowhere near as good as the ones in your reissue, since mine's a 2005 model. IIRC Marshall were rebranding original Tesla tubes back when your reissue was made?

That could very well be possible about the rebranding of tubes, not really sure though? My slp is from 93.

Heh, well, to add to that rumor - my '94 reissue came WITH tesla el-34's, not even rebranded. Weird, as the chassis sticker says it was supposed to have 5881's.

Still have 'em too, and they are still in good shape...

I've ordered some JJ/Tesla EL34L's from George, when I get them in I'll have a mess around with them and see how they sound for Van Halen tone and let you know, in case you ever want to replace tubes in your amps and are considering these.

I got the "L" version. After hearing that Ralle, George (in his amp builds) and Yngwie Malmsteen are using them, I really wanted to try some and hear why they were so popular.

So he does

I definately bought the ones I was after though, here's what Jon (flemingmras) said about them:
THERE IS NONE BETTER THAN THE JJ!!!

The JJ E34Ls ROCK!!! Tight low end with a very aggressive midrange. This is the tube that you'd want to run for some raw rock n roll!!!

Jon
I remember you buying a quad of JJ's, which version did you get?
