check out that switch in the back of the amp in the preamp section - when you see the amp in later photos, it's been replaced by some sort of screw.

6CA7's Mark

It's definately not a hole for the 1959T left by the factory. I wonder if the switch is something like a split/shared switch, as later VH albums sound like split cathode to me while VHI sounded like shared.

Also note that his cabs have NO TOLEX? What's up with that? Kinda looks cool that way.

Rumor has it the cabs sound more open with no tolex....haven't tried it yet, just can't bring myself to tear off my pretty tolex. I have been looking for an older 70's cab to experiment with........

What switch you guys talking about? All I see on top of the chassis towards the left is that cream colored thing, which could possibly be the QC sticker? that and the additional cable plugged into the back of the left of the chassis. Mark, The tubes are Sylvania 6CA7 big bottles.

Edit:
Take a look at this photo which may or may not be one of Eddie's amps. notice the QC sticker's placement. On the first photo in this thread that off white thing is in the same area of the chassis.

What jumps out at me is that cab on the top right with the black tolex. Didn't the black tolex come out in the mid 70's? So much for pre-rola. And is it me or does that choke look bigger/different than other SL chokes?
