some new clips recorded toaday!

Post by master keeper » Tue Mar 07, 2006 4:21 pm

I recorded some clips with my RI and duesenberg V today. I hooked the amp up with my checker cab. Guitar was straight to amp, hotplate and cab. Cab miked with sm57 straight at the edge of the cone's center... :D

For this clip I had to move the cab since it happend to be aimed straight at a door 5 ft away. When I came back a few hours after recording the first clip to do this one there were people in the room behind that door... So I had to change rooms...

I had the amp at 8ohms inti 8ohm plate into 16 ohm cab. It sounds different from using a 16 ohm setting all the way!

Man you're really getting that amp dialed in.
You're clips keep getting better.
Have you changed some values around or anything?

No I haven't touched a thing, I have the knobs set the same as my first try a few days ago too.

The only difference is that I ran the amp through only one cab this time and I positioned the mike slightly differently, this time pointing straight towards the edge of the center. I feel that the first clip is quite convincing. A shame I had to move the stack to a different room between clips!

Sounds great :D

On the strength of this clip, I've just put a bid on and won a January 1974 G12M. I really like the sound of these speakers, and I can't play with even only 2 G12T-75's any longer - I need a cab full of G12M's 8)

£45.25 - that's cheaper than my reissue G12M's!

Yes, IMO nothing beats the 25 watters. I had a slant BW with pre rola g12h which I sold off a few weeks after buying it. Didn't like the sound of those speakers. Too harsh and too little breakup...

For 70s-80s hard rock nothing beats the g12Ms!

MK, so what made you go with ******'s 2" OT rather than the 1 1/2"? How much was it?

Master Keeper, absolutely awesome VH tone. That clip of Ain't talkin' bout love is one of the closest to the real tone that i've heard. Glad you like that delay setting. :D Great job! 8)

Thanx, friend!

Your input is worth alot for me!!! Yau's the man who's puttin out BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD VH licks for ages. I'm a neeewwwb. I just fucked around with my amp to proove that you can get that sound without geting amp no 12301(or whatever the MAN'ZZ got)... I'm using my standard settings, a RI, and borrowed the component values from my 12-series.

The thing I like most about this amp is how it seems to get numerous of tones depending on the situation you put into it!

The thing about he 2" tranny was that I already had an original 12-series amp and a super bass, so I wanted something in between those two amps. So I ordered ******'s 2"; I had read alot of his posts at the palace and understood that he really knew TONE! The tranny cost me 150 bucks. I got it cheaper cause I ordered another tranny for a 50 watter at the same time.

Then, over time, I tweaked the amp (with ABR-1s great knowledge and help!) towards my 12-series amp specs, and finally after lowering the filtering and replacing the V1 miniwatt ecc83 with a tesla e83cc I arrived at this sound...

Sorry I took a long time to answer your question, Crunch!
