The guy (who's also my band mate) who's working on my amps, just bought my old '73 Super Bass and he finished rebuilding it into a clone of my 12-series amp yesterday! He's only tried it out at home at -16 on the hotplate, but says it sounds VERY promising indeed. I already regret that I let it go... 8) It sits at 470 B+ (so I guess it's loud as hell, at least it was as a super bass). He said it had killer crunch and string separation. He's got a straight cab with pre rola 25w to run it through. I'm jelous already! :D

Tone report come sunday!

Additional question on filtering, especially for the stuff you've been doing.....I'm not really familiar with the physical location/layout/jargon of the superlead (1959), but have been looking over the schematics and comparing them to the 1987 and the Weber clone I just made. Can you be so kind as to walk me through exactly which filtering caps are different compared to this example I've recreated from the July '70 schematic available on the net? Hopefully the jpeg will show up here.

Also, just FYI, this is the power supply configuration on the Weber 1987 clone.

This is the way filter caps are connected in this amp,NOTE the rest of the schematic does not match 100%

Yes ,i´m the one thats been inside MK´s amp and this is the power supply used in that amp,it´also the filter combo of his 12-serie SL.
But as stated before ,the rest of the schematic does not match,i only used that layout to answer creepingted`s question about the filtersection

Thanks, that clears it up.

Are most of these cap cans or board mounted electrolytics?

On MK´s 12-serie SL all of the caps are board mounted except one can on top(PI 32+32uF)
His RI head has one board mounted(16+16uF pre amp), the rest is can caps

I assume to duplicate this filtering arrangement in a '69 up or reissue with all caps on top you'd have to use double 16 uFs for the screen caps (the two closest to OT) instead of double 32 uFs. I used the double 32s here in mine, just curious if less filtering would affect tone significantly.
