Mod5 Metro Zero Loss FX Loop Issue: Gain Loss?

Okay so I had posted a topic about bias stuff for the Mod 5, which reminded me I have a completely separate issue: every time I turn on the Metro Zero Loss FX Loop that was installed after Mark's Mod 5, there's a significant loss in gain. I'm not sure if this is because the Mod 5 uses both preamp and power tube circuit gain and the FX loop is only designed to preserve only preamp gain tone, but I can't use any pedals with it in the loop and keep the gain the way it is. Have any other people here had issues with the FX loop with your PPIMV mods, and do you guys think I should have it looked at (or is it just not something that can work with this type of mod)?
