I was going through many of the threads in this section and there were some great things going on. "George saw Ed's amp?" Was one of them. Quite a few others as well but then suddenly, it's Ghost Town USA. No more building lessons to share?

I noticed it goes in waves. It picks up and slows down. Its usually very slow around the holidays too.

Dirtycooter hasn't been around much for a while. He always seemed to have interesting topics that stimulated a lot of responses.

Dr Phil has a 2.2k OT shootout coming soon.
Comparing the Merc and Heyboer 2.2k 2" OT, the 2" Merr e n 2", and possibly a Metrospec Heyboer 2"

Honestly seems like the forum slowed about 4 years ago

Slowed, yes but now? Ghost town. Maybe the VH tone is just dying after nearly 40 years. I've never seen anywhere else, get into details about early VH stuff like this place though.
No one is spoiled. Just a loss of interest from a lot of people but hey, people move on and that's cool too.

For me personally, once the Friedman spec was given (Thanks again Dave!!!), it cleared up a lot of the vh tone questions I had. To me that was the last most significant contribution to this site that I can remember (Debate on Eddie's Plexi thread) concerning the vh tone. That thread is the big daddy of the vh tone threads imo. Oh, and the mod5 spec that knocked it out of the park for vh tone too. Can't forget that one. Once the dust settled on those two specs, it seemed like I had a lot less questions. Those two specs are "it" for me. Everything that has come after that has been interesting but not as trailblazing. Just my 2 cents.....

There is a great storage place in Camarillo, CA....
I think we dispelled all the rumors and myths behind how and why Ed got his tone. A great eye opener for me is listening to a vintage amp and listening to current production amps...even the handwired ones from the big guys doesn't get there. George did by comparing his '68 to an amp build with present day components.
Then there is the "how Ed ran his amp"...as Mr Palm Springs has demonstrated.
Check out this video. Lots of great tone. He also shows how the circuits differ in other videos. The 2005 hand wired Super lead shows my point.

Yeah, sounds like you could use some help. I'll make the same offer I made Mike on his 68 amps. Free storage and hell, I'll even throw in periodic use for the sake of the caps.

Ha ha, nice try! I'm a little behind on projects and have spent the last couple days just trying to figure out what speakers I have in my cabs. I finally blew up my last Pre Rola cone, so it has forced me to move on to my other cabs. I have enough parts for another 12301 clone and a 68 50w plexi, just need to free up some cash to finish them up.
