Just bought this about 5 minutes ago. Getting ready to fire it up at Twistyneck's.

I have the parts to restore and upgrade the little things like bulgin and diodes.

Can't wait to hear my 76 Destroyer, Divebomb Franky, and Northern Ash HM Strat through this, but also to compare the 12000 series I built with a 67 OT/69 Laydown PT.

Just needs a white chicken head knob on that removed master.

Nice Score, MM! And in white!! I just finished restoring my 12314...at least 99% there. It's the sound that was in my head all these years. Congrats. Let me know where you're finding your NOS parts. We can trade notes.

He has the beautiful matching cab for $5500..But I'm already set with 2 Cabs. A nice Avatar basket weave cab with 1972 G12h30s with transitional pre rola parts. And a fugly 1973 Checkerboard cab with nice 1976 Blackbacks. I have less than $2500 invested in both my cabs and speakers.

I just got back from Twistneck's house. What a great player. This amp sounds so good.

That thing looks awesome! I wondered- I don't see a capacitor across the 2 phase inverter capacitors/resistors. Is this something they left off in '68 for a fatter sound or (?)... I've heard of different values for that cap, but never seen it completely removed. Good to see you back around the forum, Mike!

Right, the "fizz cap" is missing... that would make the amp prone to HF noises and ice picky on the top end.

47pf (stock) or 100pF works fine there

Good eye, and It was really bright through my Divebomb Franky with 8.15k A5, but not bright at all through Twistyneck's Trembucker Musicman Clone.

So I was thinking a Pup swap or clip a 330uf accross that .68uf on V2a.
On my builds I use 100pf. Can't believe I didn't catch that.

I drive an 18 wheeler, and the seller met me at the Truck Stop. I have the amp with me in the sleeper secured with a cargo net. Yes I slept with the amp and 2 guitars in my bed.

Nothing wrong tonally with the new Mica caps there, but I would like a NOS part there if I can find one

Just went on the bay and scored some 47pf Lemcos. (There's still some left)
I also scored some 4700pf Lemco caps (There's 1 left)
And I scored some 110pf Lemcos. (There still might be some left)

I still want to install that Frankenstein PUP in my Franky
God I can't wait to try my 76 Greco Destroyer through this.

I have a shitty phone clip of Twisty playing my Franky Through it. It's really bright and the phone audio is clipping. It doesn't do it justice, but you can hear that note separation on his SF ascending runs. I'll try and figure how to upload it somewhere.

I'm glad to hear this. I tell my GF that I sleep with my guitars when I'm not at her place, and she thinks there's something wrong with that..!

Sold this amp on EBAY a year or 2 ago to a monster player. He’s on YOUTUBE with the white amp playing ITO.<br/>

JNEW handled the restoration of this amp for me because I was on the road in the SEMI. Nothing major, no circuit changes, just putting back period correct caps, China Hats, took out that ugly cord and replaced with a bulgin, put original fuse holders, covered the factory preamp hole with the plate, and replaced after market tube output tube socket with an original McMurdo.


Then the cool part... Sylvania 12ax7wa and Sylvannia 6CA7, and then JNEW recorded some dry clips in a cab loaded with JBL and Celestion 20 watt with an SM57 on each into garage band.
I’ve had those dry clips for years. Called JBL left Celestion right.
I recently took those files, blended them, then added compression, panned the file left, but reverb in stereo in Protools, but It kept putting them back on both sides when I export (because I’m a noob at Protools)
So JNEW took that file I mixed that he said I put too much reverb , and then panned it left, and into a backing track of Jamie’s crying that has everything except the Rhythm guitar.
