Re: (1968 Plexi) The "Major" tone monster demo.
I liked it.Not everyday I hear clips of a one wire mod PPIMV Major. (How recorded?)
That Timmon's sounds good and holds together nicely when you crush those chords.

Yeah I'm really liking this AT-1, great mids and tight on the low-end.
A lot of people have asked me how I record so I made this little video explaining things, forgive me for the guitar noodling at the end of the video.

Man, really enjoyed that, you get great tones and have a cool style
. I dont know which amp I like best, this one or your '78 Jmp. What do you feel are the differences between the Timmons pu and the tone zone ? Oh and thanks for the vid on your recording set up. I had forgotten how great the 'Rain Song' is

I find the AT-1 has a more tighter low end than the TZ and the gain is just where I want it with the AT-1. The TZ has a little more gain but not as articulate.
The AT is definatly better IMHO.
I thought the vid of my recording setup would be helpful, thanks for checking it out.

Cool, I have a couple of those 'half blue/half white' caps, British made Dubilier (Thanks Shannon
). I was thinking of trying them in the PI coupler section. The two I have are .022uf, but they are rated at 1000v, so they are the size of .1uf's. Were those caps in the amp when you got it or did you put them in ?

The Dubiliers from the late 60's are half yellow and half blue, I would say the ones you have are over 40 years old.Tone Slinger wrote:Wow, then these British made Dubiliers I have are OLD (nos) ! Thanks for the info man

Are you the same Michael RT on the Marshallamps Forum that writes inaccurate crap like this:
http://www.marshallforum.com/marshall-a ... lls-3.html
Guys suggest you scroll to the bottom where 'the expert' tells Frankie that his amp is not a 68 clone as it is split cathode
If you are not I apologise profusely

Hahaha. What a knucklehead! I didn't read any further, so did anyone correct the guy?
Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

Nope, no one corrected him and unfortunately, I did read the next two pages of comments. And WOW, there are a bunch of ignorant snobs on the Marshall forum. I guess you get drunk AND stupid on the Marshall kool-aid. I'd build my own any day over a modern production Marshall...
Cool Major by the way!
